Gordon wooff , was born on 2nd October 1937. He was the only child , of his parents LILLIAN & GEORGE WOOFF. The family were always railway workers , and they came to Barrow from warton nr Carnthforth , through work. Gordon grew up in Leicester street during his childhood , and during the war years he lived in Foxfield , with his uncle .In Barrow, he attended Cambridge street School, followed by RisedalSchool. Leaving school aged 15, he started working on the Co-opmilk and was there for 3 months. Wanting to learn a trade Gordon moved onto an apprenticeship to serve his time as a joiner. A decision his mother was not impressed with as he was breaking with the family railway tradition. His natural woodworking skills kept him busy in his workshop all his life. He even won first prize in a cabinetry contest with his mahogany bedside chest on display at the town hall! Gordon had a lifelong passion for- motorcycles. He owned them , he fixed them , he scramble rode them , he dreamed about them. Gordon also loved to watch roadracing ,visited the isle of man TT races 24 times , with his son ( me ) . During those yrs we made many ,many happy memories. The other passion my Dad had was his love for his pet German Shepard dogs . Ceaser - Jenny - Ross - Shelly , they were our friend and part of the family. They are all together now in peace.
